We were really pleased to get through as a Finalist in the Shooting Industry Awards 2017 with our Ultra Lightweight Pigeon Magnet Rotary nominated in the New Shooting Accessory category.

I attended the Awards Ceremony at the Brandon Hall Hotel near Coventry on 11 May 2017 with high expectations.

In case you don’t know the Ultra is manufactured here in the UK, it uses a modern, power efficient 12v motor and has featured on numerous Fieldsports Channel programmes with Andy Crow and is one of our best selling products.

Being light to carry, robust and able to run for extended periods with either Sillosocks Hypa-Flaps or dead birds, gives the Ultra the edge over other models.

The great and the good of the UK shooting industry were present at the awards and we found ourselves immersed in conversations about Rifle Scopes, Dog Transit systems, Shooting Grounds, Rimfire Cartridges and Wellingtons to name but a few.

Once we had been fed and watered the awards for each category were announced, thankfully there were no acceptance speeches!  As it turned out we didn’t need one anyway, our category was won by a handheld Thermal Imaging scope, which incidentally, cost more to buy than my car!  True.

We were told that there are going to be some new categories next year, hopefully the way things are progressing at UKSW, we will be able to submit some more entries.

What I have learned is that we are a part of a really exciting and constantly developing industry, staffed with passionate makers, inventors, suppliers and designers of all sorts kit and equipment, much of it is Made in Great Britain of which we can be rightly proud – the Thermal thing isn’t by the way!
